Pure Ed has been rambling around the southeast for the last few years creating music, making new friends, and rocking out in some of the strangest places imaginable. After the positive response to the 2010 release of the "Work Sucks EP," the band returned to the studio more determined than ever to complete their debut, full-length album. The resulting "Shoes, Ships & Sealing Wax" CD was released on November 1, 2011. Upon its release, Pure Ed was back to hitting the road from the east coast to the west coast delivering (in person) a disk that's sure to beat up your stereo speakers with noisy songs of anger and frustration. The band recorded an awesome show at The Viper Room in Hollywood, CA and the resulting CD, "Live at The Viper Room," was released on August 23, 2013. In July of 2015, the "Paperback High EP" added a handful of new tracks to their arsenal of musical awesomeness. Most recently, Jason Cope was featured on the cover of the September 2016 issue of Grunge Special Magazine. Love 'em or hate 'em, there's no denying that Pure Ed does what they do with a passion and honesty that few bands today can muster. | ||||

Pure Ed is the music of Jason Cope. Many people do not like it. In fact, many people hate it. They hate it so much that Jason has actually been beaten at shows for playing his songs. One time he was beaten so badly that he woke up in the hospital. Why does this happen? Is it because the music is bad? Is it because the songs are vulgar? Not at all. It is because the songs, the words and even the person creating them are different - honest - unashamed. Sometimes a different view can be dangerous. That is the story of Pure Ed. |
Jason takes a cue from artists like Kurt Cobain, Jack White and Bob Dylan by writing music for himself and whoever else wants to hear it as it is. There is no compromise. There is no fluff - just honest songs about life as he sees it. He hopes people will listen, but if they don't, that's fine. The songs will still be there and he will still play them...because that's what he does. |
